Wednesday 20th April 2016, 4pm- 5.30pm
Southend High School for Girls
Southchurch Boulevard, Southend-on-Sea, Essex
We are writing to you because you may have already gained 60 Masters (Level 7) credits during your PGCE with Canterbury Christ Church University or are currently working toward this in your training. These credits remain ‘live’ for 5 years, so it is important that you consider now whether you would wish to continue in order to complete your Masters degree, so that you do not miss the opportunities available. If you have 20 or 40 Masters credits, then there is still the opportunity for you, we would just need to look at a more individualised programme, but if you are interested in completing your Masters, then please read on.
Due to the number of student teachers that have gained CCCU Masters credits locally, we are looking to offer an ‘early career’ single module, delivered locally in order for you to gain a further 20 Masters credits towards a full Masters. This could be delivered entirely locally if we have sufficient numbers.
This module with Canterbury Christ Church University will:
• support your development of practice in your early career
• complement in-school support
• create opportunities to discuss ideas, issues, concerns and interests with peers and tutors
• offer flexibility to choose your own main area of focus
• contribute to a full MA (along with other recent, relevant level 7 credits where applicable)
• automatically gain individual Teaching and Learning Academy accreditation (MTLA)
If there is sufficient interest (a minimum of 15) then CCCU can run a group locally in Essex (for example in twilight sessions during term time) starting in October or November, 2016.
The financial commitment of this module is £550 per person, however, CCCU Initial Teacher Education alumni are entitled to a discount, therefore the total price of the module would be £440, (prices correct at time of print). This is payable in three instalments through the year.
We are holding an introductory meeting on Wednesday 20th April 2016, at 4pm at Southend High School for Girls, Southchurch Boulevard, Southend-on-Sea, Essex, SS2 4UZ for anyone considering continuing Masters study. At the meeting we will explain the module available, give fees information and gather expressions of interest (with no obligation). There will be time to ask individual questions.
Please email Katie Kennedy, Partnership Development Leader (Essex) on the email below if you would like to attend the information event by 18th April and include your name, school, email address and contact telephone number. Please also email Katie if you are interested in continuing the Masters, but cannot make the event. (Please note we have limited capacity, so places will be on a first come first serve basis.) We hope we will be able to get a local cohort studying the ‘early career’ Masters module in 2016-17 and hope it will be the first year of many.
