This is a one day course on EAL assessment and on planning provision to meet the specific needs of EAL pupils
Course participants will get the opportunity to:
- explore an EAL assessment framework developed in partnership with the REAL project
- consider how to use the information gained to set targets and plan effectively
- develop strategies that support on-going assessment in the classroom
- focus on the distinction between EAL and SEN needs, as well as recognising early Gifted & Talented indicators
The course session will involve interactive workshops in which participants will have the opportunity to
assess and level samples of pupils’ speech and writing . There will also be opportunities to explore activities in the HLS Assessment pack and share examples of proformas for collecting data and tracking progress.
All course participants will receive an EAL Stages Booklet.
About the Facilitator:
Andy Harvey has worked in the field of EAL for over 20 years working across all Key stages. In his work for HLS Ltd, he delivers training to schools, universities and conferences across the UK and abroad.
