Course participants will:
• explore the reasons behind underachievement including the importance of considering context
• learn how it is possible to break through barriers to boys’ achievement in literacy
• consider effective strategies schools can employ to prevent underachievement and bring about significant whole school improvement
The conference will involve both theory and research delivered through a presentation. There will be opportunities to discuss the learning while networking with colleagues. There will also be an opportunity for questions and answers.
About the Facilitator
Gary has been a teacher for 26 years in Huddersfield and has spent a great deal of that career specializing in raising boys’ achievement. He is now a freelance consultant providing his audience with real tried and tested methods to break the boundaries of boys’ under achievement. He is the author of several books on the subject and is used extensively by several LAs and organisations to implement his ideas on closing the gender gap.
