SETSA, in collaboration with Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, will be responsible for appointing TLPs, ensuring their professional development in this role, brokering their deployment and monitoring their performance. The programme will form a key part of the School-to-School Support strategy.
TLPs are outstanding teachers who are consistently graded as such by Ofsted or through a school lesson observation process. They must demonstrate a particular area of expertise and a successful track record of school improvement. They can come from any school or academy including primary, secondary and special. Whilst the individual must be outstanding, his or her school does not have to be.
Every school with a TLP will be expected to release them for 1 day per week for a year. Each school will be funded at £12,000 per TLP. The expectation is that the TLP will commit to full days not part days and contracts will run from September 2013 up to August 2014.
This is an excellent professional development opportunity and a chance for Headteachers to showcase outstanding practice from within their school.
