Primary teachers (including senior management), teaching assistants and cooking leaders.
From 2014 onwards, all schools that follow the National Curriculum will have to teach food as part of D & T, including a new ‘Cooking and Nutrition’ programme of study in KS1, 2 and 3. Focus on Food believe that teaching cooking is all about sparking a passion, developing practical skills and helping pupils get to grips with healthy ingredients and recipes. This is achieved through practical sessions that are filled with good food, friendly, informative teaching and plenty of hands-on cooking.
Facilitated by Focus on Food www.focusonfood.org
Focus on Food was launched in 1998 and since then has taught over 113,000 people to cook. They train 2,500 cooking teachers and leaders every year – helping them lead more effective cooking sessions in their schools and communities. Focus on Food consultants are qualified teachers and are all passionate about food education.
