This project aims to ensure all students that have the potential to achieve level 6 in maths actually realise their potential. They are examining the contents of Level 6 topics, designing a scheme of work with a variety of learning resources such as NCETM, MEP and Nrich and planning network meetings Ed is delivering professional training to the primary school colleagues and demonstrating how these resources are deployed with their pupils in lessons. A group of sixth-form mathematicians from Westcliff High School for Girls have been trained as digital mentors to the a cohort of Year 6 pupils with potential to reach level 6 identified by the primary schools cluster. A virtual learning platform has been set up.
The pupils have met once at WHSG where they spent the day working on their maths skills with their teachers, Ed and their Sixth Form Mentors. It was a highly successful day and will be repeated in April.
