Working with an experienced science leader, you will develop your vision and leadership skills to enable you to lead an effective and vibrant science team.

RP208

Physics for non-specialists

Develop your understanding of key physics principles and the skills and strategies needed to teach physics effectively.

RP210

Mathematics in science teaching (UNDER REVIEW)

Exploring the use and failure to use mathematics in science. It looks at typical weaknesses in mathematical that hinder students' ability to understand and solve scientific problems.

RP212

Enhancing literacy skills in science

Supporting participants in responding to the increased literacy demands in examinations and help to provide students with the skills to be effective, independent learners.

RP222

Behaviour management in science

Supporting teachers new to the profession in considering ways of managing the behaviour of their students so that a positive, effective learning environment can be sustained.

RP297

Key Stage 3 science for non-science specialists

A series of four CPD sessions (4 days) to help non-science specialists teach science confidently.

RP344

Applying knowledge and understanding in science

Help your science students apply their knowledge and skills by focusing on AO2 exam specifications.

Develop the ability of your students to apply their knowledge and understanding of scientific ideas, scientific enquiry, techniques and procedures. This course focuses on the demands of AO2 in exam specifications and offers practical advice and suggestions on how to develop application and problem solving skills. You will create a toolkit of activities that will help you promote application skills in your students.

RP348

Supporting EAL Learners in Science

Support of pupils with EAL to ensure curriculum is inclusive and accessible for all learners

RP349

Stretch and challenge of pupils in science

How to ensure that learners are given appropriate stretch and challenge in science

RP350

Metacognition and self-regulated learning in science

Development of self-regulated learning skills for pupils to help progress

RP352

Meeting the new Ofsted framework in secondary science

The new Ofsted framework, to be introduced from September 2019, will require leaders and teachers of science to have a clear curriculum vision for the subject, this course will guide participants through a review of the science curriculum offer to ensure that your students meet the Ofsted 3 Is (Intent, Implementation and Impact). The course will look at how to identify gaps in teaching and learning and how to ensure that they are filled, how to broaden your thinking beyond working to exam specifications and linking learning to the world of work, society and real-world contexts.

RP355

Science for low attainers - how to engage and ensure progress

This course will look at how to effectively deliver the science curriculum to ensure progress by low attainers. The course will look at how the curriculum can be modelled to support low attainers and you will develop strategies to engage students with science and to ensure that pupil's skills are developed to allow them to access examinations and required practicals.

RP391

Developing a sustainable future

A suite of training and resources that develop sustainable thinking with students. Activities will explore product lifecycle, product design and manufacture through a product tear down and a design task.

Why attend?

RP750

Triple science network meeting

Share good practice around the intent, implementation and impact of the triple science curriculum with your peers

RP760

Implementing and enhancing triple science provision for SLT and governors

Provide key messages to leadership teams and governors about the benefits of triple science.

RP775

KS3 Curriculum Progression

Planning the delivery of the science curriculum (90 minute)

RP776

Technicians Supporting Triple Science

This course is designed for technicians who support practical work in triple science. You will gain hands on experience of effective and engaging practical ideas in biology, chemistry and physics. You will also have the opportunity to discuss key learning points behind the practicals, where to find resource materials and how to prepare them.

RP777

Raising Attainment in Triple Science

Looking to improve students’ performance? This course will enable you to consider a range of key strategies to help you achieve this. It has been designed for science departments that have little or no experience in delivering triple science.

RP778

Triple Science: Physics

This course is intended for teachers that have experience of teaching physics at 14 - 16 and would benefit from support in effective teaching and learning of the triple science extension modules. A range of modules from across the awarding bodies will be considered, you should be familiar with the content of your extension modules before taking part in the course.

RP779

Triple Science: Chemistry

This course is intended for teachers that have experience of teaching chemistry at 14 - 16 and would benefit from support in effective teaching and learning of the triple science extension modules. A range of modules from across the awarding bodies will be considered, and you should be familiar with the content of your extension modules before taking part in the course.

RP780

Triple Science: Biology

This course is intended for teachers that have experience of teaching biology at 14 - 16 and would benefit from support in effective teaching and learning of the triple science extension modules. A range of modules from across the awarding bodies will be considered, and you should be familiar with the content of your extension modules before taking part in the course.

RP781

Inspiring learners to study Triple Science

Using data from KS3 can help you identify students who are suitable for triple science. This course will help you effectively identify appropriate students from data. You will examine ways to motivate students, enrich their triple science learning and investigate STEM career resources that you can use to inspire students to study science.

RP782

Managing Effective Practical Work in Triple Science

This course is designed for teachers who are new to teaching triple science with a particular interest in developing their use of practical work.
